The Experience:
Tandem Paragliding at Lookout Mountain
After meeting at the Lookout Mountain Paragliding Landing Zone in Golden, Colorado, we’ll take a scenic drive up Lookout Mountain to the parking area just below the launch site, near the iconic School of Mines “M.” From there, a short hike brings us to the launch site where your instructor will teach you everything you need to know for your tandem instructional flight.
Once you and your instructor are ready, you’ll securely hook into the paraglider together. When the moment comes, you’ll step into the wind, allowing the glider to rise overhead. With a few quick strides, you and your instructor will take to the skies.
As you glide over Golden, you’ll be comfortably seated in the harness, free to take in the breathtaking views. Flights at Lookout Mountain typically lasts between 5-15 minutes, depending on the weather. As the journey comes to an end, you'll touch down in the Landing Zone, returning to solid ground with not just a memorable experience, but a firsthand lesson in the art of free flight.

What to wear
Proper footwear is very important. Wear sneakers, hiking shoes, hiking boots or similar. We highly recommend footwear with ankle support. Sandals or flip flops are not acceptable.
Wind protection is recommended as its typically cooler flying through the air than it is on the ground. Layered clothing with a wind proof outer shell is best. Gloves if it is cool outside.
We recommend wearing pants, not shorts to protect your legs from long grass in the landing zone.
Sunglasses for wind and sun protection.
Required Experience
No prior experience is required. You'll fly with a certified USHPA tandem paragliding instructor who will provide a comprehensive briefing, teaching you everything you need to know for todays flight.
Reservations
It is best to make reservations in advance. There is limited availability and flying is weather dependent.
If you are in town for a short stay reach out early in your trip for the best flexibility for weather related delays.

Paragliding is an extreme outdoor adventure sport, which means there are real risks involved. These include the possibility of serious injury, and even death. Paragliding puts you in an environment that you don’t fully control. Weather, terrain, and pilot decisions all play a part.
